What is a Wheat Bag?
Wheat has a wonderful property. It heats up fast and then releases the heat slowly.
Usually wheat bags are heated in a microwave for a few minutes. They can then be applied to the source of pain - stiff or achey joints for example. They are very beneficial in the relief of the pain of arthritis, period pains, stress, tense neck and shoulders.
They can also be cooled down in the fridge or freezer and applied to a bruise or sprain. They are excellent for the relief of headaches. Tackle pain without resorting to drugs.
Add some Lavender – and you have something very special indeed. While the soothing warmth of the wheat eases pain – the fragrance of the lavender adds to the relaxation. It will probably scent your room into the bargain!
Put a warm Lavender Wheat Bag under your pillow and sleep will not be far away.
Our Lavender Wheat Bag Refills are a gorgeous mix of wheat and dried lavender flower heads. The mix is then enriched with pure lavender essential oil. The fragrance is absolutely heavenly.
Wheat Bag Refills will have a multitude of uses.
If you have an old wheat bag that’s lost it’s “oomph” – refresh it by refilling it – no need to buy a new one.
If you’re handy with a needle, you could make a simple bag to house the mixture.
You could even just have some of the mix in a pretty open bowl - a beautiful non-chemical room fragrancer.
Or – use a popsock!
Regular customers will know our love of the humble popsock and it’s “Eco-friendly-don’t-throw-it-away” versatility.
Just empty the refill bag into an old knee-high popsock and voila! An instant Wheat Bag. You may like to use two – one inside the other to avoid any stray bits escaping through a hole.
The beauty of the popsock is that you have a wheat bag that can be squeezed into lots of different shapes. Pull it out into a sausage shape for draping over a shoulder or wrapping around a painful wrist, ankle or knee.
A flatter, rounder shape can be placed in the small of your back while you watch TV or work at a desk. Or you could make two small ones – keep in your pockets for toasty hands in the winter – or an English summer!
Photos here show a single 400g pack used to fill a popsock.
To Heat. Place in microwave for 1.5 minutes. Take care – they do get very warm.
NOTE: Mixture must be removed from polythene bag before heating.
